“Marcotte’s M-Series, the evolution of the Minejack carrier, is always in high demand amongst mining operators and contractors, particularly the M-30 and M-40 models. Regarding winching and hoisting systems, there is demand for conveyor tensioners, shaft sinking winches, and secondary egress systems.”

Can you briefly introduce Timberland Equipment and explain the company’s involvement within the mining industry?

Timberland Equipment was established in 1947, based in Woodstock, Ontario. We provide purpose-built mobile Underground Utility Vehicles (UUVs) for the mining industry, with Minejack being one of our principal product lines. Our other product lines include tensioners, mine rescue systems, pullers, hoists, sheaves, and winches custom designed for shaft sinking and underground projects. With 10,600 projects under our belt, we feel that we can accommodate projects with great success.

On January 1st, 2020, Marcotte Mining merged with Timberland Equipment. What were the reasons behind the merger?

Timberland Equipment owned Marcotte since the mid-90s, but at the end of 2019, a decision was made to bring the companies together instead of operating as separate entities. By doing so, we synergized our team in one location utilizing the current experience and the larger Woodstock manufacturing facility to handle the upcoming equipment demand. The company has also become more streamlined, we enhanced our engineering capabilities, and have maintained a robust aftermarket support service office for mobile equipment sales in Sudbury, Ontario. Timberland has an excellent reputation, and although the Marcotte name has changed, the Minejack trademark will remain.

Which of your equipment has been in high demand in the last couple of years?

Marcotte’s M-Series, the evolution of the Minejack carrier, is always in high demand amongst mining operators and contractors, particularly the M-30 and M-40 models. We recently received multiple requests for the 2021 budgets, including scissor lifts, crane trucks, cement haulers, ANFO loaders, and fuel/lube carriers and systems have also been requested significantly.

Regarding winching and hoisting systems, there is demand for conveyor tensioners, shaft sinking winches, and secondary egress systems. One of the recent projects delivered included a double drum hoist complete with E-House, controls, and stage winches, clam winches, sheaves, and cages. This system was designed to be installed within a few weeks to ensure rapid startup.

What is Timberland Equipment’s strategy for growth in the coming years?

At Timberland, we are focused on electrification, digitalization and seeking to expand our Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) to operations with additional requirements of clean air. The second part of our growth strategy is offering Timberland’s base product lines such as its leading-edge technology, including but not limited to scissor lifts, crane trucks, ANFO loaders, secondary egress systems, winches, and hoists.

Do you have a final message for potential partners?

Timberland Equipment provides high-quality products and has leading-edge technology. We also manufacture under one roof, which gives us more control over product quality. We have a great team of engineers, product managers, customer service technicians, and our history speaks for itself. Our product line is still as good, robust, and reliable as anything out there.
